Four ways households hire
Whatever the arrangement, the verification is identical.
Recurring helper — set days
The classic days-work arrangement: two, three, or four fixed days a week. Cleaning, laundry, ironing, and cooking, on a schedule your household can plan around.
Full-time & live-in household help
Five or six days a week, live-out or live-in with her own room. For larger households, or where early mornings and evenings need covering.
Cooks
A helper whose strength is the kitchen — daily meals, Sunday dinner, prepping for the week, and cooking around dietary needs.
Short visits & stays
For visitors to Jamaica and returning residents: a vetted helper or cook for a defined set of dates, at one all-inclusive daily rate.

› What does a household helper do in Jamaica?
A helper blends domestic work — cleaning, laundry, ironing, cooking — with light childcare, in whatever mix your household agrees. Arrangements range from a days-work helper (two or three fixed days) to a full-time live-out helper, a live-in helper with room and board, or a nanny-helper who is childcare-first with household support.
› How much does a helper cost per week?
Full-time live-out helpers typically earn J$18,000–J$25,000 per week (45–50 hours). Live-in helpers earn J$14,000–J$20,000 per week plus room and board — the cash wage is lower because housing and meals are provided. Jamaica's minimum wage is J$17,000 per 40-hour week from July 2026. That wage is paid to her and is separate from CareLink's one-time placement fee.
› What does CareLink charge to place a helper?
A one-time Matching & Verification Fee: J$15,000 for a recurring part-time helper (set days each week) or J$25,000 for a full-time or live-in placement. That covers the complete search, the full four-check verification, presenting the candidate for your own interview and approval, the written role brief, and the 30-Day Replacement Guarantee. The fee is fixed and the same for everyone.
› Are CareLink helpers background-checked?
Yes — the identical four checks used for childcare and elder care. Government ID checked against her face, a current JCF Police Certificate issued within the last 6 months, references personally telephoned by us (including on punctuality and reliability), and an interview. No helper is presented to a household until all four are complete.
› What is the written role brief?
Before day one, we put the role in writing: the duties, the days, the hours, and your household standards — agreed by both sides. Most helper disputes in Jamaica come from an unwritten arrangement where each side assumed something different. The written role brief removes that ambiguity, and it comes with every placement.
› Do I have to register my helper for NIS, NHT, and PAYE?
